Botswana to Host Strategic Panel on Advancing Diamond Beneficiation at Future of Mining Summit 2025. As part of the upcoming Future of Mining Summit 2025, a high-level panel discussion titled “Building a Globally Competitive Local Diamond Beneficiation Sector” is scheduled to take place from 16–17 June 2025 at Boipuso Hall, Fairgrounds in Gaborone.

The panel, which forms part of the broader summit agenda, will bring together key industry leaders and stakeholders to explore the future of diamond beneficiation in Botswana and beyond. It will be chaired by Tumie Ramsden, External Communications Manager at De Beers Group.

Confirmed panelists include:Naseem Banu Lahri, Managing Director of Lucara BotswanaSolomon Moremong, Deputy Director for Business Development at Diamond HubBoaz Lev, Managing Director of HB AntwerpLesego Matsheka, Director of Venus Jewel Botswana

These industry figures will provide insights into how Botswana can enhance its diamond value chain and position itself more competitively on the global stage through beneficiation — the process of transforming rough diamonds into polished products locally.

The session is expected to unpack issues such as investment opportunities, skills development, infrastructure needs, and value chain expansion, while also highlighting Botswana’s current progress and long-term potential in the beneficiation space.

The Future of Mining Summit 2025 is a multi-stakeholder platform that brings together players from government, private sector, and civil society to engage in dialogue and partnership for the sustainable development of the mining sector.
