Botswana Strengthens Global Presence at Sustainable Tourism Conference in Thailand. Botswana is reinforcing its position in the global sustainable tourism space through participation in the GSTC 2026 Global Sustainable Tourism Conference currently taking place in Phuket, Thailand.

Representing the Botswana Tourism Organisation is Environment and Eco-Certification Manager Mokganedi Ntana, who has joined international stakeholders and industry leaders for discussions focused on sustainability in tourism. The conference runs from 21 to 24 April 2026 and serves as a platform for dialogue on global standards and practices within the sector.

Ntana’s participation reflects Botswana’s continued engagement in conversations around responsible tourism development. The country’s tourism model is often associated with conservation, community involvement, and the promotion of nature-based experiences, which form part of its broader tourism strategy.

At the conference, discussions are expected to cover areas such as environmental management, certification frameworks, and approaches to balancing tourism growth with conservation objectives. Botswana’s presence provides an opportunity to share its experiences and approaches within these areas while engaging with global perspectives.

The event is recognised as a key gathering point for policymakers, tourism operators, and sustainability experts, offering a forum to exchange knowledge and explore evolving industry practices. Botswana’s involvement highlights its intention to remain aligned with international sustainability frameworks while contributing its own insights.

Participation in platforms such as the GSTC conference also supports broader efforts to position Botswana within the global tourism market. By engaging in international discussions, the country continues to highlight its focus on sustainable practices within its tourism sector.
