Botswana Showcases Tourism Strength at WTM Africa 2025 in Cape Town. Botswana has officially joined the World Travel Market (WTM) Africa 2025, showcasing its commitment to promoting the country as a leading tourism destination. The event, taking place from April 9 to 11 in Cape Town, brings together key tourism stakeholders from across the continent and beyond.

The Botswana Tourism Organisation (BTO) is leading the country’s participation, hosting 17 local tour operators and agents at the international trade show. This platform provides an opportunity for Botswana’s tourism sector to engage with global buyers, share insights, and explore business partnerships.

WTM Africa is recognized as one of the continent’s premier business-to-business events in the travel and tourism industry. It includes networking sessions, exhibitions, and a comprehensive conference programme featuring speakers from various sectors.

A key highlight of Botswana’s participation will be a presentation by Hon. Minister Boipuso Wynter Mmolotsi at the Travel Leaders Forum. He will speak on the topic: “Is Africa sabotaging itself? The roadblocks to tourism growth,” which is expected to generate important dialogue around policy, infrastructure, and collaboration in the sector.

Ahead of the event, BTO hosted a ‘meet and greet’ session with the participating local operators. The session focused on event expectations, brand positioning, and the potential benefits of engaging with global tourism players during WTM Africa.

Botswana’s presence at WTM Africa underscores its strategic intent to expand its tourism footprint and promote sustainable travel experiences rooted in the country’s unique natural and cultural heritage.
