Botswana Showcases Mining Vision at Indaba 2026. Botswana is taking centre stage at the Investing in African Mining Indaba 2026, marking its participation under the theme “Five Decades of Mining Excellence: The Next Era Starts Now.”
The country’s presence at the event is set to be highlighted by a Country Showcase scheduled for 11 February at 12:00hrs. The session will be headlined by Minister of Minerals and Energy, Honourable Bogolo J. Kenewendo, as part of Botswana’s official programme at the gathering.
Botswana’s delegation brings together representatives from both the public and private sectors across mining, energy, investment, and banking. Participating entities include MDCB, BITC, De Beers, Debswana, Botswana Oil, Morupule Coal Mine, Botswana Geoscience Institute, GCR, MMG Khoemacau, Botash, ODC, Abaricom, and media partner The Projects.
According to organisers, the country’s participation is focused on promoting Botswana and the investment opportunities it presents, positioning the nation as a proven partner for future growth. Mining Indaba serves as a global meeting point for companies and institutions involved in mining, minerals, and energy, many of whom attend to explore partnerships, new markets, and investment destinations.
Botswana has outlined several objectives for its engagement at the event. These include attracting investors who prioritise experience and long-term collaboration, building partnerships aligned with energy transition and responsible mining, and highlighting opportunities linked to beneficiation and sector innovation.
Through its presence, Botswana is presenting its mining sector as entering a new phase shaped by partnerships, forward planning, and investment readiness.
The theme of Botswana’s participation reflects a milestone moment for the country’s mining journey, as it marks five decades of industry development while signalling the beginning of a new era defined by evolving priorities, expanding value chains, and continued engagement with global partners across the sector and beyond its traditional foundations in mineral production and resource development initiatives. Today Botswana presents that vision.
