Botswana Set to Welcome 11 Nations for 2026 Billie Jean King Cup Group III Africa. Botswana is preparing to host another international sporting event as the 2026 Billie Jean King Cup Group III Africa brings teams from across the continent to Gaborone for a week of women’s tennis competition.
The tournament will take place at the National Tennis Centre from 13 to 18 July 2026, with the official opening ceremony scheduled for 13 July.According to the organisers, 11 African countries will participate in the championship, bringing together more than 100 athletes, coaches and guardians for the week-long event.
The tournament provides Botswana with another opportunity to host an international sporting competition while welcoming visiting teams and officials from across the continent.
Brand Botswana said the event will also serve as a platform to showcase the country and its hospitality to international visitors. With delegations spending several days in Gaborone, the championship is expected to highlight Botswana as a destination capable of hosting regional and international sporting events.
The Billie Jean King Cup is the world’s premier international team competition in women’s tennis, with countries competing in regional groups as part of the global tournament structure. The Group III Africa competition features national teams from across the continent competing during the scheduled tournament week.
Hosting the event continues Botswana’s involvement in staging international sporting competitions and provides local tennis supporters with an opportunity to watch teams from across Africa compete on home soil.
