Botswana Set to Launch Economic Transformation Programme and National Call for Ideas. Botswana is poised to begin a new chapter in its economic development with the official launch of the Botswana Economic Transformation Programme (BETP) and the Call for Ideas initiative, scheduled for Tuesday, 15 July 2025 at 08:00 HRS.
President Advocate Duma Gideon Boko will officiate the ceremony, which marks the beginning of a broad national effort to reshape Botswana’s economic landscape through inclusive and sustainable development.
As part of the launch, Vice President and Minister of Finance, Mr. Ndaba Nkosinathi Gaolathe, will present an overview of the BETP, explain its objectives, and outline the development roadmap. The programme is expected to unlock sectoral growth, expand employment opportunities, and strengthen the country’s economic resilience.
The BETP is a coordinated effort involving government institutions, the private sector, civil society, and development partners at both national and local levels. It signals a renewed focus on long-term, inclusive transformation, aimed at improving livelihoods and building a stronger economic foundation for all Batswana.
The event will also mark the opening of the Call for Ideas, inviting entrepreneurs, innovators, and community stakeholders to propose practical projects and concepts that can contribute to Botswana’s growth. This presents a key opportunity for business owners, startups, and thought leaders to participate directly in shaping the nation’s future economy.
The launch event will be livestreamed on Btv, RB1, and the official Facebook pages of the Ministry of Finance and BWgovernment, ensuring public access and encouraging broad participation.
