Botswana Oil Supports Lucara Cycling Challenge as Fundraising Effort Raises Over P3.2 Million. Botswana Oil Limited (BOL) has reaffirmed its commitment to community development by supporting the 2026 Lucara Botswana General Manager’s Cycling Challenge, an annual event that raised more than P3.2 million for Botswana’s health sector.
Held in Letlhakane, the cycling challenge brought together more than 350 cyclists, community leaders, corporate partners and government officials. This year’s fundraising campaign exceeded its target, with proceeds set to support healthcare initiatives across the country.
The event has grown into a well-established platform that combines sport, wellness and charitable giving while encouraging collaboration between the private sector, government and local communities.
Speaking during the event, Lucara Botswana General Manager Johane Mchive reflected on the growth of the initiative, saying the cycling challenge has evolved significantly since it was first introduced more than a decade ago.
He said what began as a simple vision has developed into a successful fundraising platform that continues to deliver meaningful benefits to communities while supporting Botswana’s healthcare sector.
Botswana Oil also participated in the event as part of its ongoing commitment to initiatives that promote healthy lifestyles and community development.
Botswana Oil General Manager for Supply Oscar Isaacs described the cycling challenge as more than a sporting event, highlighting its role in demonstrating what can be achieved through collaboration.
He said the initiative brings together organisations and individuals to promote wellness, strengthen healthcare support and contribute to sustainable community development.
Isaacs also praised Lucara Botswana for its leadership in organising the event and encouraged the company to continue building on the initiative by setting even more ambitious fundraising goals in the future.
The 2026 edition attracted participants from various sectors, reinforcing the growing support for community-focused fundraising events that combine physical activity with social impact.
