Botswana Named Southern Africa Finalist for African Tourism Destination of the Year. Botswana has been selected as a finalist for the African Tourism Destination of the Year award under the Brand Excellence Category at the Pyne Awards Africa 2026.

The nomination places Botswana among five regional finalists representing different parts of the continent. Morocco represents North Africa, Senegal represents West Africa, Rwanda represents Central Africa and Tanzania represents East Africa, while Botswana represents Southern Africa.

The recognition highlights Botswana’s position in the continental tourism industry and its contribution to the development and advancement of tourism in Africa.

Public voting for the award is currently open and will close on 20 August 2026. The finalist that receives the highest number of votes in the category will be announced as the winner at the Pyne Awards Africa Gala Night.

The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on 25 September 2026 in Maputo, Mozambique.

Botswana’s selection as the Southern African finalist gives the country an opportunity to compete for the continental tourism destination title against finalists from the other four African regions.

Members of the public can participate in the voting process through the official Pyne Awards Africa voting platform.The nomination comes as Botswana continues to promote its tourism offering and its role within Africa’s tourism sector.

The Pyne Awards Africa recognition is being presented under the Brand Excellence Category, with the destination award bringing together finalists selected to represent their respective regions.

The outcome will be determined through public voting, with the winner set to be announced during the September awards ceremony.
