Botswana Innovators Take Centre Stage at MIT Kuo Sharper Center Demo Day. A night of innovation, ambition, and homegrown excellence unfolded as the MIT Kuo Sharper Center for Prosperity and Entrepreneurship hosted its Early Stage Program Demo Day, marking the grand conclusion of a 12-week journey of learning, building, and refining entrepreneurial ideas.

The event, held under the banner of innovation-driven development, was graced by several national leaders, including His Honour the Vice President of the Republic of Botswana, Ndaba Nkosinathi Gaolathe, the Minister of Communications and Innovation, Honourable David Tshere, his Deputy Minister, Honourable Shawn Ntlhaile, and the Minister of Trade and Entrepreneurship, Honourable Tiroeaone Ntsima. Also in attendance were BDIH Board Chairperson Ms. Ikanyeng Molemele and Acting CEO Mr. Diane Mongudi, alongside entrepreneurs, investors, and innovation enthusiasts.

Demo Day provided a platform for participants from the Early Stage Program to showcase their ventures—products and solutions developed over an intensive three-month incubation process focused on innovation, sustainability, and real-world problem-solving. The program, delivered through a partnership between the MIT Kuo Sharper Center and the Botswana Digital & Innovation Hub (BDIH), aims to empower startups to translate ideas into scalable businesses that contribute to Botswana’s economic transformation.

Vice President Gaolathe commended the innovators for their commitment to shaping Botswana’s future through entrepreneurship and technology, reaffirming government’s support for initiatives that drive job creation, competitiveness, and digital growth.

The event also served as a reminder of the growing innovation ecosystem in Botswana, where young entrepreneurs are increasingly turning ideas into impact through collaboration, mentorship, and access to resources.
