Botswana Housing Corporation Advances Police Aviation Capacity with New Hangar Project. The Botswana Housing Corporation has expanded its role in national development through the delivery of a specialised aviation hangar for the Botswana Police Service, highlighting its capabilities beyond residential housing projects.
The near-complete facility was recently showcased during a site visit attended by senior government officials, including Moeti C. Mohwasa, Onnetse Ramogapi, and Assistant Minister Motsamai Motsamai.
The aviation hangar has been designed as a maintenance and servicing hub for the police aircraft fleet, with a focus on supporting operational readiness. Once completed, the facility is expected to provide infrastructure required to maintain aircraft under conditions aligned with modern aviation standards.
During the visit, Minister Mohwasa acknowledged the collaboration between government entities and the Botswana Housing Corporation, stating that investment in high-grade infrastructure is important in supporting the operational needs of the police service.
The project reflects a broader effort to equip the Botswana Police Service with infrastructure capable of supporting its responsibilities, including aviation-based operations. By working with the Corporation, the government has sought to deliver a facility that meets the technical demands associated with aviation security and maintenance.
Minister Ramogapi also addressed the project’s progress, noting that it encountered challenges linked to the COVID-19 pandemic and adjustments to its scope. Despite these factors, the Corporation continued to focus on completing the facility in line with required standards.
The development of the hangar represents a shift in the Botswana Housing Corporation’s portfolio, demonstrating its involvement in complex infrastructure projects beyond housing. The facility is expected to contribute to the operational efficiency of the police aviation unit.
With the project nearing completion, the hangar stands as an example of infrastructure investment aimed at strengthening institutional capacity within Botswana’s public safety framework.
