Botswana Artists Shine at RMB Latitudes Art Fair Through ReCurate Showcase. Botswana’s contemporary art found international spotlight as local curatorial agency ReCurate showcased a vibrant collection of works at the RMB Latitudes Art Fair, held from 23–25 May 2025 in Johannesburg.
Representing Botswana’s growing creative scene, ReCurate presented works by four contemporary artists: Naledi Maifala, Kutlo Mabua, Modisa Tim Motsimi, and Neo Matome, alongside the celebrated Kuru Art Project, which featured Ntcisa Kase, Bau Kaashe, Cgoma Simon, and Ncaotoe Thama.
Together, their work explored the theme “Liminal Spaces”, offering reflections on identity, culture, and transition within the evolving landscape of Botswana’s art community. The collection invited viewers to consider the in-between spaces that shape both individual and collective experience, while positioning Botswana art within a broader continental and global context.
Participation in the RMB Latitudes Art Fair, a major event on the African art calendar, gave the artists international exposure and allowed for engagement with collectors, galleries, and institutions from across the region.
For Botswana’s creative entrepreneurs, ReCurate’s involvement demonstrates the value of curatorial innovation and collaboration in opening new markets for local talent. By bridging local narratives with global platforms, the agency is building momentum for Botswana’s visibility in the arts economy.
Entrepreneurs in the creative industries are encouraged to draw inspiration from ReCurate’s model, combining curation, cultural representation, and business acumen to scale impact and reach.
