Botswana and Ukraine Explore New Trade Opportunities to Deepen Economic Ties. His Excellency Dr. Oleksiy Syvak, Ambassador of Ukraine to Botswana, recently paid a courtesy visit to Honourable Tiroeaone Ntsima, Minister of Trade and Entrepreneurship, to strengthen economic cooperation and explore new trade and investment opportunities between the two nations.

During the meeting, Ambassador Syvak introduced himself in his official capacity and reaffirmed Ukraine’s interest in fostering closer ties with Botswana. The dialogue focused on identifying sectors of mutual benefit and enhancing bilateral trade relations through targeted collaboration.

Minister Ntsima outlined Botswana’s strategic focus on economic diversification, inviting Ukrainian businesses to explore investment opportunities in high-potential sectors such as critical minerals (including copper and nickel), diamonds, beef exports, renewable energy, and tourism development.

In return, opportunities were highlighted for Botswana-based companies to explore investments in Ukraine’s well-established agriculture, wood processing, and mechanical engineering industries — particularly in areas such as steel production and machinery manufacturing.

The two officials discussed the possibility of joint business forums to promote trade linkages and knowledge sharing between entrepreneurs from both countries. These forums would create a platform for businesses to connect, explore joint ventures, and expand into new markets.
