Botswana and Lesotho Deepen Cross-Border Collaboration in Gambling Oversight. Botswana’s Gambling Authority and the Lesotho Casino Board have taken a significant step toward enhancing regional cooperation in gaming regulation. On Monday, both authorities embarked on a benchmarking mission in Gaborone, aimed at strengthening standards and promoting responsible gaming practices across Southern Africa.

The visit, which included a tour of Moonlite Casino at Airport Junction Mall, was led by Gambling Authority Chief Executive Officer Emolemo Peter Kesitilwe and Lesotho Casino Board Chairman Mr. Pokello Mahlomola. The engagement provided a platform for knowledge exchange, with both parties exploring strategies to enhance operational integrity and regulatory effectiveness in their respective jurisdictions.

According to the Gambling Authority, the benchmarking initiative reflects a growing focus on collaboration as a tool to improve governance and innovation in the gaming sector. By sharing best practices and regulatory insights, the two bodies aim to align their frameworks with global standards while adapting to regional market dynamics.

Moonlite Casino, one of Botswana’s key licensed gaming establishments, served as a practical case study for the visiting delegation. The tour highlighted aspects of compliance, security, and customer engagement within a regulated environment.

The two regulators reaffirmed their commitment to advancing oversight mechanisms that uphold transparency and protect consumers. The visit also emphasized the value of partnerships in driving policy development and sustainable growth within the industry.

This joint mission marks a notable development in regional gaming relations, signalling future opportunities for collaboration on capacity building, policy harmonisation, and stakeholder engagement.
