Botswana and India Explore New Business Opportunities in High-Level Engagement. The Botswana Investment and Trade Centre (BITC) today hosted a high-level delegation from the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) at its headquarters in Gaborone. The meeting aimed to strengthen economic relations and identify potential investment opportunities between Botswana and India.
The delegation was led by His Excellency Mr. Bharath Kumar Kuthati, India’s High Commissioner to Botswana. It included senior executives representing sectors such as telecommunications, infrastructure, engineering, agriculture, power, water, automotive, healthcare, and pharmaceuticals. Mr. Balasubramanian Ramachandran, CEO of Shiriraam Engineering, also participated as part of the delegation leadership.
The forum provided a platform for dialogue on fostering mutually beneficial partnerships between Botswana and Indian businesses. Business Botswana was represented by Mr. Joseph Willie, Sector Chair for International Relations, along with industry members, actively engaging in the discussions.
Mr. Kagiso Koyabe, Head of Capacity Building and Business Advisory at Business Botswana, encouraged the Indian delegation to leverage the organisation’s network of over 2,500 member companies to explore joint ventures and partnerships. He also expressed interest in future trade missions to India and proposed establishing a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen bilateral collaboration.
This engagement highlights Botswana’s strategic position as a gateway to African markets and reflects the growing momentum in Botswana-India economic relations. The discussions underscore opportunities for Botswana entrepreneurs to access new markets, technologies, and partnerships through strengthened ties with Indian industries.
