BK Motshelo Group Donates Essential Supplies to Francistown Centre for the Deaf. The Francistown Centre for Deaf and Education (FCDE) has received a much-needed boost following a donation from the BK Motshelo Group, which provided food hampers, toiletries, and sanitary pads to the school.
The donation comes after the school’s struggles were highlighted on social media, prompting Team BK founder Bokani Galeitsiwe to take action. “We were moved to help FCDE after learning about their struggles,” Galeitsiwe said, noting that the contribution would go a long way in addressing some of the challenges faced by the institution.
The FCDE has been working to provide education and support to learners with hearing impairments, but limited resources have posed ongoing difficulties. The donation is expected to ease some of the immediate needs of the students and staff, while also drawing attention to the importance of continued community support for specialized education centres.
Expressing gratitude on behalf of the school, head Changu Munyadzwe said the supplies would be put to good use. “You have covered our nakedness,” she remarked, appealing for more support from individuals and organizations to help sustain the centre’s operations.
The gesture by BK Motshelo Group underscores the role of private sector and community-driven initiatives in complementing educational efforts, particularly for institutions serving vulnerable groups. It also highlights the impact of social media in mobilizing support and raising awareness about pressing community needs.
For FCDE, the donation represents not only material assistance but also encouragement that their work is recognized and valued. The school hopes that this act of generosity will inspire further partnerships and contributions to strengthen its mission of empowering learners with hearing impairments.
