BITC Engages with Drones For Africa to Explore Innovative Tech Solutions. Botswana Investment and Trade Centre (BITC) recently visited Gaborone-based tech company Drones For Africa, highlighting the growing importance of drone technology in advancing innovation across multiple sectors in the country.

Drones For Africa is a technology and innovation company providing end-to-end drone solutions, including nautical, aerial, and underground drones. Their products are customizable to meet specific client requirements, making them suitable for applications in agriculture, logistics, surveying, and critical services such as delivering medicine to remote areas. Beyond sales, the company offers consultancy services, as well as in-house repairs and maintenance for drone operators.

Training forms a key component of Drones For Africa’s offerings. They provide Botswana Qualifications Authority (BQA)-accredited courses in remote drone piloting, which are also refundable through the Human Resources Development Council (HRDC). In addition, the company delivers industry-specific training programs tailored to sectoral needs, ensuring that professionals acquire practical skills aligned with operational demands.

The company has strengthened its strategic footprint through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Construction Industry Trust Fund (CITF), aimed at accelerating drone adoption within Botswana’s construction and industrial sectors. Their current clientele includes Debswana, where they provide training and operational support for surveys and underground missions. In agriculture, Drones For Africa is involved with farmers and the Temo-Letlotlo program, assisting with the dispersion of pesticides and medicine to enhance productivity and efficiency.

With a workforce of 21 employees, Drones For Africa exemplifies how innovation-driven companies can deliver solutions that address local challenges while creating economic opportunities. The BITC visit underscores the potential for public-private partnerships to accelerate technology adoption and support Botswana’s broader industrial and digital growth objectives.
