BHC Expands Public Outreach as Bonno National Housing Programme Gains Momentum. The Botswana Housing Corporation (BHC) has strengthened its public education drive for the Bonno National Housing Programme (BNHP) through an engagement session with staff from the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC). The session forms part of ongoing efforts to ensure wider understanding of the programme’s objectives, processes, and opportunities.

Since the BNHP was launched, the BHC’s Marketing and Communications Department has led an extensive nationwide outreach initiative aimed at government institutions, private companies, corporate bodies, and the general public. Information has been shared through kgotla meetings, social media platforms, traditional media, and roadshows, allowing citizens and potential investors to engage directly with programme representatives.

The BNHP has recorded steady progress so far, reflected in the increasing number of expressions of interest and continued interaction with potential investors. Public briefings have also contributed to heightened awareness, paving the way for broader participation in the programme. As part of these developments, some investors have already been formally introduced to districts by the Minister of Water and Sanitation, Hon. Onneetse Ramogapi, and Assistant Minister Hon. Motsamai Motsamai, who continue to lead stakeholder engagements across Botswana.

Minister Ramogapi has reiterated the government’s commitment to delivering the BNHP within a three-year timeframe, highlighting the importance of partnerships in achieving this goal. He noted that while the government is dedicated to driving the programme forward, private sector participation remains essential to meeting national housing needs at scale.

With the year nearing its end, additional emphasis has been placed on the role of land boards. Calls for faster land allocations have been made to ensure that momentum is sustained into the next financial year.

The BNHP remains a key national initiative, and collaborative efforts will continue to shape its implementation as Botswana moves toward expanding access to affordable housing.
