BHC and Serowe District Council Deliver New Homes Under Bonno National Housing Programme. Botswana Housing Corporation (BHC) has strengthened its role in national housing development through a successful partnership with the Serowe District Council, culminating in the handover of three completed Turnkey housing units under the Bonno National Housing Programme. The delivery marks a continued effort to expand access to quality and affordable homes for communities across the district.
The newly completed units are standard Type A homes designed for practical and comfortable living. Each residence includes one bedroom, a sitting room, a kitchen, and a bathroom, reflecting the programme’s focus on functional layouts that meet essential housing needs while supporting sustainable community development.
The construction of the units was carried out by local contractors across three different locations in Serowe. Leduke Investments Pty Ltd completed the house in Serowe South (Thabala Village), Koc Well Investments Pty Ltd delivered the Serowe West (Malatswae Village) unit, and Masenuku Investments Pty Ltd constructed the home in Serowe North (Tshikinyega Ward). The involvement of local contractors further reinforces the programme’s contribution to economic activity and job creation within the district.
During the handover ceremony, Serowe District Council Chairperson, Honourable Atamelang Thaga, acknowledged the importance of the partnership, noting that the project supports the government’s broader objective of improving living conditions and uplifting communities across Botswana. He emphasised that the completed units stand as a tangible demonstration of effective collaboration between local authorities and BHC.
For BHC, the initiative extends beyond infrastructure delivery. The Corporation highlighted that each home represents a foundation for long-term progress for the beneficiaries, aligning with Botswana’s national development priorities. The organisation reiterated its commitment to continue working with councils throughout the country to ensure more families have access to dignified and affordable housing.
The Serowe handover adds momentum to the Bonno National Housing Programme’s mission to provide reliable shelter solutions while contributing to district-level development and community empowerment.
