BDC Marks Botswana’s 59th Independence with Cultural Celebration. The Botswana Development Corporation (BDC) has joined the nation in celebrating 59 years of independence with a vibrant cultural gathering held at Botswana Craft. The event brought together BDC staff in a display of Setswana heritage, unity, and pride.
Colleagues dressed in custom-made BDC Leteisi, symbolising identity and togetherness, as they commemorated nearly six decades of Botswana’s independence. Unlike previous years, this year’s celebration carried special significance, with staff taking centre stage to showcase traditional music, dance, storytelling, games, and authentic Tswana cuisine.
The celebration was not only a nod to Botswana’s rich cultural roots but also an opportunity for reflection on the nation’s journey of resilience and growth since 1966. For BDC, the occasion served as a reminder of the values of unity and national pride that underpin its own corporate identity and mission.
“The day was about more than just marking independence. It was about honouring Botswana’s history, celebrating the present, and reaffirming our role in preserving and promoting cultural heritage,” a BDC representative said during the event.
As one of Botswana’s leading investment arms, BDC continues to focus on sustainable economic development while recognising the importance of culture as a foundation of national identity. The independence celebration highlighted how business and culture can intersect to reinforce community values and inspire collective progress.
For Botswana’s entrepreneurs and businesses, the event demonstrated how organisations can strengthen internal culture and brand identity through initiatives that celebrate national pride while fostering unity within their workforce.
