Bastille Day 2025 Showcases Fashion and Cultural Collaboration Between France and Botswana. The French Embassy in Botswana hosted a vibrant celebration of Bastille Day 2025, honouring France’s National Day through a cross-cultural event that highlighted fashion, creativity, and enduring diplomatic ties. The occasion brought together members of the French community, key stakeholders, and local partners at a well-attended ceremony in Gaborone.

Among the dignitaries in attendance was Hon. Minister Ph. Butale of the Ministry of International Relations, who served as the guest of honour. His presence underscored the growing cooperation between France and Botswana, particularly in the creative and vocational sectors.

French Ambassador O. Brochenin reaffirmed the strength of bilateral relations, spotlighting collaborative initiatives such as the Création Botswana programme and the partnership between Haute Ecole de Joaillerie and Oodi College of Applied Arts and Technology. These initiatives aim to nurture skills development, cultural exchange, and economic growth through creative industries.

The highlight of the evening was a fashion showcase featuring eight rising and established local designers: Glotto, maru.bw, Kanyo M Atelier, Dihdah, SER.CONSOLADO, Decisive.bw, Botocy, and Prestige. Their designs were met with praise, capturing the spirit of innovation and craftsmanship that the Création Botswana initiative represents.

The event also featured contributions from sponsors Lucara Botswana and Absa Bank Botswana, as well as an elegant jewellery set provided by Messika, adding a touch of French luxury to the evening.
