Bank Gaborone Unveils P600,000 Business Centre to Support Farmers and Entrepreneurs in Ghanzi. In a move set to boost rural enterprise and agricultural development, Bank Gaborone has officially launched a new multi-purpose business centre at the Ghanzi Showgrounds, valued at over P600,000. The facility was handed over during the opening ceremony of the 2025 Ghanzi Agricultural Show, with President Duma Gideon Boko and members of the local community in attendance.

The permanent structure is designed to serve as a year-round hub for farmers, youth entrepreneurs, and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). It will offer space for product showcases, networking, and business operations—providing local entrepreneurs with access to markets and visibility beyond the annual agricultural show.

Speaking at the handover, Khalala Mokefane, Head of Wholesale Banking at Bank Gaborone, said the investment demonstrates the bank’s strategic focus on advancing inclusive growth and sustainable livelihoods. “This significant investment underscores our commitment to empowering local entrepreneurs and advancing the agricultural sector, which remains a vital pillar of the nation’s economy,” she said.

The centre aims to create an enabling environment for innovation and business development in Ghanzi, one of Botswana’s key agricultural regions. It is expected to serve as a model for how financial institutions can play a proactive role in supporting value chain development, rural entrepreneurship, and youth empowerment.
