Arts and Tourism Leaders Forge Strategic Alliance for Growth. The National Arts Council of Botswana (NACB) and the Botswana Tourism Organisation (BTO) have taken a significant step toward strengthening collaboration between the arts and tourism sectors. This afternoon, NACB Chief Executive Officer Mr. Gaokgakala Lemmenyane paid a courtesy call to BTO Acting CEO Mr. Justice Ofentse, in a meeting focused on unlocking opportunities for creative and tourism-driven growth.
The engagement set a progressive tone, with both institutions aligning on the commercialisation of the arts value chain as a catalyst for enriching Botswana’s tourism offering. Discussions emphasized the importance of fostering a mutual relationship where culture and creativity elevate visitor experiences while empowering local creatives.
Key areas of collaboration included strategies to strengthen domestic tourism through the promotion of local destinations and advancing initiatives that position Botswana’s rich arts and cultural heritage at the forefront of tourism experiences. The dialogue also explored integrated content sharing to amplify visibility across platforms, including incorporating arts and culture into BTO’s marketing channels and showcasing Botswana’s creative identity at local and international trade shows.
BTO underscored the importance of a whole-of-sector approach, highlighting the need for broader stakeholder engagement and collaboration with other State-Owned Enterprises to drive sustainable development. NACB was identified as a key strategic partner in this journey, reinforcing the role of arts and culture in shaping Botswana’s global tourism narrative.
Both organizations reaffirmed a shared vision: to craft a vibrant, inclusive, and commercially viable ecosystem where arts and tourism converge. The partnership aims to tell Botswana’s story with authenticity and impact, ensuring that creative industries and tourism work hand in hand to deliver growth and shared prosperity.
