Air Botswana Unveils New Aircraft Celebrating Heritage and Connectivity. Air Botswana marked a proud milestone this morning with the official unveiling of Matsieng, the latest addition to its fleet. The 50-seater aircraft, introduced by Minister of Transport and Public Works Honourable Noah S.L.M. Salakae, symbolizes national progress, cultural pride, and Botswana’s growing footprint in regional aviation.

Named after the legendary figure Matsieng, the aircraft is built for optimal regional performance and will play a key role in strengthening connectivity, trade, and tourism in Southern Africa. Minister Salakae highlighted the significance of the acquisition, noting that it reflects Botswana’s ambitions to modernize its transport infrastructure while reinforcing a shared national identity.

The aircraft features a striking livery inspired by the traditional leteisi pattern, designed through the Brand Botswana Mark. Uyapo Ketogetswe, speaking on behalf of creative agency Bona 267, described the design as a cultural narrative in motion.

Executive Director of Brand Management at BITC, Ms. Kutlo Moagi, extended gratitude to all stakeholders. She emphasized that every aspect of Matsieng, from its design to its onboard offerings, showcases Botswana’s rich identity.

The launch event underscored Air Botswana’s evolving role as a national carrier and cultural beacon. With Matsieng, Botswana takes flight—both literally and symbolically—toward a future defined by pride and purpose.
