Agripreneur Kemo Begani Champions Climate-Smart Farming in Okavango. Kemo Begani, founder of Spring Blossom Pty Ltd from Kauxwi in the Okavango District, is emerging as a leading voice in sustainable agriculture and community empowerment. Through her company, she is promoting climate-smart farming while creating opportunities for youth, women, and rural communities.

Begani’s journey reflects resilience and innovation. She has participated in numerous regional and international programmes, including earning a certificate in Climate Smart Agriculture through MYGA UN Women, showcasing her dried products at the BIASHARA AFRIKA trade fair in Lomé, Togo with support from UNDP Botswana, and winning the 2025 Women in Tech Innovation Award. She is also a graduate of the Ignite: African Women in Agribusiness Fellowship and has received training in food handling and safety through SADC in Mozambique.

Her work has been further supported by initiatives such as a solar system donation from the American Embassy to advance green farming practices, participation in the Chemachema Scheme, and involvement in a government benchmarking mission to Bangladesh. She has also trained through EnterprenHER and is an active member of the Botswana Horticulture Council, Women Rural Assembly Zimbabwe, and Mulimi Zambia.

Beyond business, Begani is deeply committed to community service. She serves as Chairperson of Phomolong OVC, supporting orphans and vulnerable children in Shakawe, donates fresh produce to schools, and inspires young people to pursue careers in agriculture. Most recently, she launched a dried vegetable product line, showcased at a UN Women South-South Exhibition.

“Agriculture is more than just planting; it’s about purpose, people, and progress,” Begani says. Her story demonstrates how agripreneurship can drive community development, strengthen food systems, and contribute to sustainable growth in Botswana.
