Russon was accompanied by Absa Bank Botswana Board Chairperson Cosmas Moapare and Managing Director Keabetswe Pheko-Moshagane during a courtesy visit to Minister of State President Moeti Mohwasa.

The engagement focused on the role of public-private partnerships in supporting economic development and creating opportunities for businesses and communities.

Absa said the discussions highlighted the importance of collaboration between government and the private sector in unlocking opportunities and supporting sustainable economic growth.

The visit forms part of Absa’s engagement with stakeholders in Botswana and its stated commitment to maintaining a long-term presence in the country.

According to the group, its approach involves working with government, businesses and communities to create opportunities that enable enterprises and individuals to thrive.

The engagement comes as Botswana continues to focus on economic development and opportunities to strengthen business activity. While the specific initiatives discussed during the meeting were not detailed, Absa said the importance of partnerships in supporting businesses and broader economic growth was central to the engagement.

Russon’s visit also brought together senior leadership from Absa Group and Absa Bank Botswana, providing an opportunity for the financial institution’s leadership to engage directly with a senior government representative.

Moapare and Pheko-Moshagane accompanied Russon as part of the delegation, reflecting the involvement of both regional and local Absa leadership in the engagement.

Absa said it remains committed to working alongside stakeholders in Botswana as a long-term partner.

The group’s stated focus is on collaboration with government, businesses and communities to support opportunities and economic participation.
