Botswana Diamond Sector Focuses on Trust and Provenance at Dubai CConference. The Okavango Diamond Company (ODC) has highlighted the growing importance of provenance, transparency and sustainability in the natural diamond industry following its participation in the Dubai Diamond Conference 2026.

The conference was held under the theme “Diamond 2.0: A Strategic Reset – Reigniting Desire, Unlocking New Value” and brought together stakeholders from across the global diamond value chain..

Reflecting on the event, ODC said discussions with industry leaders, innovators and decision-makers reinforced the importance of strengthening consumer trust and demonstrating the origins and impact of natural diamonds.

According to ODC, authenticity, transparency, traceability and sustainability are becoming increasingly important as consumer expectations change. The company said the industry has an opportunity to communicate not only the rarity and beauty of natural diamonds, but also the stories and impact associated with them.

For Botswana, the discussions have particular relevance given the country’s diamond industry and its focus on connecting diamond revenues with national development outcomes.

ODC said the increased emphasis on provenance and impact could provide an opportunity to strengthen connections between consumers and the people, communities and development supported by natural diamonds.

Collaboration was another key theme emerging from the conference. ODC said the challenges and opportunities facing the global diamond sector cannot be addressed by individual companies or countries alone, pointing to the need for collective action, shared objectives and continued innovation across the value chain.

The company said its participation in the conference also provided an opportunity to engage with global stakeholders and strengthen relationships within the industry.

ODC’s reflections come as the natural diamond sector considers how to reinforce its value proposition in a changing consumer environment.

The company said the future of natural diamonds would depend on combining rarity with authenticity, luxury with purpose, and trust with verifiable impact.
