De Beers Showcases Botswana’s Diamond Industry and Traceability Technology at Business CConference. De Beers Group is using the 18th Business Botswana National Business Conference (NBC) in Francistown to showcase Botswana’s natural diamond industry and technology designed to verify diamond authenticity and provenance.
The company is participating in the conference as a sponsor, where business leaders, policymakers and other stakeholders are discussing Botswana’s economic development. Its exhibition also gives members of the public an opportunity to view natural diamonds and learn more about their journey through the value chain.
De Beers’ participation marks its return to Francistown after staging its first diamond exhibition in the city at the 16th National Business Conference in 2022.
A key feature of this year’s exhibition is diamond proof technology, which demonstrates how the authenticity and provenance of natural diamonds can be verified.
According to De Beers, the technology is intended to support greater transparency across the diamond value chain and provide consumers with information about the traceability of natural diamonds. The exhibition forms part of broader efforts to increase public awareness of Botswana’s diamond industry and its contribution to national development.
The initiative also builds on a natural diamond education roadshow launched by Debswana Diamond Company. The roadshow has already reached communities in Ghanzi and Maun, with the aim of making information about diamonds more accessible.
Through these engagements, De Beers and Debswana are seeking to provide more people with an understanding of the journey of diamonds from mining to market and their economic role.
The National Business Conference provides another platform for engagement with the business community and wider public, bringing diamond education and technology demonstrations into a broader discussion about Botswana’s economy.
De Beers’ exhibition focuses on natural diamonds, authenticity, provenance and traceability, providing visitors with an opportunity to learn about processes associated with the diamond value chain.T
The company’s participation also continues its stakeholder engagement activities in Botswana, following its previous exhibition in Francistown.
