Botswana Explores Mining and Energy Investment With Ivorian FFirms. Botswana is exploring potential investment opportunities in its mining and energy sectors following discussions between Minerals and Energy Minister Bogolo Kenewendo and representatives of two investment firms from Côte d’Ivoire. Kenewendo met with Stéphane Ouedraogo, managing partner of Stallion CAP Africa, and Boubacar Keita, managing director of Bakos Invest, to discuss possible partnerships with the Botswana government.

The meeting focused on opportunities to support the development of Botswana’s mining and energy industries. The Ministry of Minerals and Energy outlined the country’s mining processes, regulatory framework and investment procedures to the visiting investors.

The engagement comes as Botswana seeks to attract foreign investment and strengthen international partnerships across key economic sectors.

Stallion CAP Africa is a pan-African financial advisory and investment firm with interests in mining, renewable energy, water infrastructure, real estate and industrial manufacturing. The company reports having mobilised more than US$2 billion in capital.

Its involvement in the discussions places the firm among the potential partners engaging with Botswana on investment opportunities in its minerals and energy industries.

However, the discussions remain exploratory, and no specific investment agreements or financial commitments have been announced.

The meeting provides an opportunity for the parties to consider areas of mutual interest and assess potential avenues for cooperation. The ministry’s presentation of Botswana’s regulatory and investment processes also gave the investors an overview of the framework governing opportunities in the country’s mining sector.

For Botswana, attracting international investors is part of broader efforts to unlock economic opportunities and establish partnerships that could support sustainable growth.

The outcome of the engagement will depend on whether the exploratory discussions develop into concrete proposals or investment agreements. No further details regarding potential projects, investment values or implementation timelines were provided.
