BHC and BTC Sign MoU to Bring High-Speed Internet to New Homes

BHC and BTC Sign MoU to Bring High-Speed Internet to New Homes. The Botswana Housing Corporation (BHC) and Botswana Telecommunications Corporation (BTC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at increasing the value and market appeal of BHC properties through integrated telecommunications infrastructure.

The agreement follows negotiations between the two organisations and will focus on incorporating connectivity provisions into BHC’s future housing developments.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Acting BHC CEO Professor Selinah Busang said the partnership would change how the corporation develops and markets its properties. She said future BHC advertisements would showcase homes with built-in provisions for high-speed internet connectivity rather than presenting housing units without such infrastructure.

Busang said reliable internet access has become an important expectation among homebuyers and that BHC intends to develop future properties with infrastructure designed to provide internet readiness from the outset.

The partnership is intended to combine BHC’s experience in property development with BTC’s telecommunications capabilities.

BTC CEO Jürgen Peschel said the MoU presents an opportunity for BHC to add value to its property offerings by integrating telecommunications solutions into its units. According to Peschel, these solutions could improve the market attractiveness of BHC properties.

The two organisations will also explore additional digital technologies beyond basic internet connectivity. Areas identified for potential collaboration include smart home technologies, home security services, Wi-Fi capabilities and other digital solutions.

he agreement therefore establishes a framework for BHC and BTC to work together on incorporating telecommunications and digital infrastructure into housing developments.
