De Beers Reports Positive Signs of Recovery in Global Natural Diamond Market. De Beers Group says the global natural diamond industry is showing encouraging signs of recovery, with stronger consumer demand, improved industry collaboration and more balanced supply and demand supporting renewed optimism despite ongoing global economic challenges.
The company’s outlook was shared during the presentation of its interim financial results, where Executive Vice-President for Diamond Trading Paul Rowley said recent developments suggest the market is beginning to regain momentum after a difficult first half of 2026.
According to De Beers, the industry continued to face significant headwinds during the first six months of the year. These included macroeconomic uncertainty, high energy costs, disruptions to international trade routes linked to conflict in the Middle East, competition from synthetic diamonds, uncertainty surrounding United States tariff policies and elevated inventory levels within parts of the diamond midstream sector.
Despite these challenges, the company believes the conditions for a gradual market recovery are strengthening.
De Beers said its targeted marketing campaigns have delivered encouraging results, particularly in the United States, where independent jewellery retailers have reported increased consumer demand for natural diamonds. The company added that coloured diamond collections promoted through its Desert Diamonds initiative have attracted strong interest from consumers.
The group also noted improvements in broader market fundamentals, with polished diamond prices beginning to strengthen across multiple categories as supply and demand move closer to balance.
