Botswana Development Corporation Appoints Gosego Phele as COO. The Botswana Development Corporation (BDC) has announced the appointment of Gosego Phele as its new Chief Operations Officer (COO), effective 1 July 2026, marking a significant leadership milestone for the state‑owned investment agency.

Phele previously served as BDC’s Head of Strategy, where she played a pivotal role in shaping and executing the corporation’s strategic agenda. Her leadership was instrumental in driving initiatives aimed at accelerating Botswana’s economic transformation and promoting sustainable growth.

She brings a strong academic and professional background to the role, holding a Master of Science in Strategic Management from the University of Derby in the United Kingdom and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Cape Town. In addition, she is ACCA Part Qualified, a Balanced Scorecard Master Professional, and a PRINCE2 Certified Practitioner, underscoring her expertise in strategic management and operational excellence.

Coinciding with her appointment, Phele joined fellow BDC executives in addressing delegates at the Future of Mining Summit 2026, where she contributed to discussions on the future of Botswana’s mining sector. The BDC leadership emphasized the importance of finance, innovation, and strategic partnerships in driving responsible investment, strengthening value chains, and supporting sustainable economic development.
