Botswana’s Zanele Moyo Selected for International Youth Media SSummit. Botswana’s creative sector will be represented on the global stage this July as Zanele Moyo, a young storyteller and creative producer, has been selected to participate in the 21st International Youth Media Summit (IYMS). The event will take place from July 17 to 30 at the Fondation des États-Unis in Paris.

The summit will bring together 50 young filmmakers, journalists, activists, and storytellers from more than 20 countries under the theme “Peace in Focus: Voices Reaching Across Borders.” Delegates will use their creativity to address pressing global issues including violence, discrimination, poverty, women’s rights, health, and youth empowerment.

Moyo, who hails from Mochudi, described the opportunity as life‑changing. “This is a chance to represent Botswana on a global stage, connect with changemakers from around the world and come back with skills, collaborations and experiences to grow the social impact work I do through storytelling,” she said.

Her work spans film, theatre, photography, and digital media, reflecting a multidisciplinary approach to storytelling that seeks to inspire and empower communities.

The IYMS has established itself as a platform for young voices to collaborate across borders, using media as a tool for dialogue and change. Moyo’s participation underscores Botswana’s growing presence in international creative industries and highlights the role of youth in shaping narratives that promote peace and social justice.
