Stanbic Bank Launches Youth Golf Development Program in Gaborone. Stanbic Bank Botswana has unveiled a new Youth Development Program that combines golf training with mentorship and personal development, aiming to create opportunities for young people through sport.
The initiative was officially launched at the Stanbic Bank Gaborone Golf Club (SBGGC) on the Day of the African Child, underscoring the bank’s commitment to empowering youth and promoting holistic development.
Targeting children and youth aged 6 to 19 years, the program provides structured golf coaching while instilling essential life skills such as discipline, leadership, teamwork, and resilience. By integrating sports training with character development, the initiative seeks to nurture both athletic ability and personal growth.
The program will run in six-week training cycles, designed to make golf more accessible to young people, particularly those who may not have previously had exposure to the sport. In addition to sessions at the golf club, school-based clinics will be introduced in nearby primary and junior secondary schools, expanding the reach of the initiative and introducing more learners to the game.
Stanbic Bank highlighted that the program reflects its broader vision of supporting youth empowerment and community development. By investing in sports, the bank aims to provide platforms for young people to discover their talents, build confidence, and develop skills that extend beyond the playing field.
The launch event marked a significant step in promoting golf as a tool for inclusion and opportunity. With structured coaching and mentorship, the program is expected to inspire a new generation of young athletes while reinforcing the values of teamwork, perseverance, and leadership.
