Government and Parastatals Bring Services Closer at Lobatse OOutreach. The Moselewapula Shopping Complex came alive today as government departments and parastatals showcased their services during a public outreach initiative organised by the District Commissioner’s Office in collaboration with the District Extension Team. The event was designed to bring services closer to communities, create awareness, and provide feedback on government programmes and policies. Officers engaged directly with members of the public, disseminating information and delivering on-site services in line with government’s mandate to reach people where they are.Beyond service delivery, the outreach also fostered teamwork and networking among government and parastatal institutions. Beneficiaries were given the opportunity to showcase their products, highlighting the link between government support and community enterprise.

Local entrepreneur Mr. Baliki Hange, owner of Bakers Mate bakery and a beneficiary of the Department of Entrepreneurial Development’s Wealth Creation division, described the event as transformative. “This has been a great business opportunity. We were able to sell all of our products. We met new and potential clients. Those who did not know about our bakery got first-hand information and tasted our products, and some have promised to visit our bakery. We also received advice from clients which we will implement to grow our business,” he said.

The initiative underscored the importance of accessibility and public awareness, ensuring that communities in Lobatse are informed about the services available to them. By combining service delivery with opportunities for local businesses, the outreach demonstrated how government programmes can empower citizens and strengthen community development.

With vibrant participation from both officials and residents, the Lobatse outreach reaffirmed the government’s commitment to community engagement and inclusive service delivery.
