Naledi Madala to Speak at Future of Mining Summit 2026. The organisers of the Future of Mining Summit 2026 have announced Ms. Naledi Madala as one of the distinguished speakers for the event, scheduled for 29–30 June 2026 at Boipuso Hall. The summit will be held under the theme “Mining for Transformation: Economic Diversification & Shared Prosperity.”

Ms. Madala currently serves as Senior Policy Advisor in the Ministry of Finance, where she provides fact-based economic and financial policy analysis to support strategic decision-making. She also oversees the Botswana Economic Transformation Programme (BETP), a government initiative aimed at driving economic diversification, private sector-led growth, investment mobilisation, and job creation to position Botswana as a high-income, digitally enabled, and export-driven economy by 2036.

Her career spans both public and private sectors. Prior to her current role, she was Vice President, Economist and Strategist at Absa Bank Botswana, where she conducted macroeconomic research and provided forecasts to support business strategy. She contributed to governance structures including the Board Credit Committee and Board Risk Committee, while supporting strategy execution at executive level.

Madala also served as a Research Fellow at the Botswana Institute for Development Policy Analysis (BIDPA), working in the Macroeconomics Forecasting and Planning Unit. Her international experience includes time as an Academic Visitor at the Urban Institute–Centre on International Development and Governance in Washington, DC, where she coordinated research on urban service delivery in Sub-Saharan Africa.

She has held governance roles such as Council Member at the University of Botswana, where she chaired the Audit Committee. Academically, she holds a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Botswana, advanced training in Business Strategy from Harvard, and a Certificate in Finance for Non-Financial Managers from Botswana Accountancy College.

At the summit, Madala will share insights on Botswana’s economic outlook, highlighting the strategic importance of mining in advancing the Botswana Economic Transformation Programme.
