Women Drive Inclusive Leadership as Lucara Strengthens ESG Governance. Lucara Botswana has marked a significant milestone in advancing diversity and responsible mining, reporting that women now occupy 43% of executive leadership positions within its Botswana operations. At group level, women account for 40% of executive officers at Lucara Diamond, underscoring the company’s deliberate effort to ensure diverse perspectives are represented at the highest levels of decision-making.

This achievement reflects Lucara’s commitment to strengthening its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) framework, with inclusive leadership forming a cornerstone of its sustainability strategy. The governance structure is anchored by a dedicated Lucara Botswana Board, which works closely with the parent Lucara Diamond Board to provide strategic oversight and ensure strong corporate governance.

Sustainability remains a board-level priority, with ESG matters overseen through a specialised committee responsible for environmental stewardship, health and safety, employee wellbeing, risk management, and community engagement.

Lucara has also established multidisciplinary working groups focused on climate action, biodiversity conservation, community development, and broader ESG performance. These teams, led by departmental heads, report regularly to senior management and both boards, ensuring sustainability objectives remain integrated into business operations.

Supporting these efforts is a comprehensive policy framework covering ethics, anti-corruption, responsible mining, human rights, environmental management, corporate social responsibility, diversity and inclusion, and whistleblower protection.

By advancing gender representation in leadership while maintaining rigorous ESG oversight, Lucara Botswana is reinforcing its position as a responsible mining company committed to sustainable growth, transparency, and long-term value creation for stakeholders and communities alike.
