The Botswana Digital and Innovation Hub (BDIH) proudly joined the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD) commemorations held in Natale Village, Tonota District, an event officiated by Honourable David Tshere, Minister of Communications and Innovation.
Celebrated under the theme “Digital Lifelines: Strengthening Resilience in a Connected World,” the occasion highlighted the critical role of digital connectivity in driving inclusive growth, empowering communities, and building resilience in an increasingly interconnected society.
As part of the commemorations, BDIH hosted an exhibition stall where innovators showcased their work to the people of Natale. Among those featured were iBranch Recruiters and Amen Herbals, who actively engaged attendees and presented their innovative products and services. Their participation demonstrated how local enterprises are harnessing technology and creativity to address community needs and contribute to Botswana’s growing innovation ecosystem.
Minister Tshere emphasized the importance of digital transformation in strengthening national resilience, noting that connectivity is no longer a luxury but a necessity for economic and social development. The event provided a platform for dialogue on how digital tools can be leveraged to empower vulnerable communities, enhance access to opportunities, and foster inclusive participation in the digital economy.
BDIH’s involvement underscored its commitment to supporting innovators and entrepreneurs, while also promoting awareness of how technology can serve as a lifeline for communities across Botswana. By showcasing practical solutions and engaging directly with citizens, the Hub reinforced its role as a catalyst for innovation and sustainable development.
