Botswana Hosts WFDB Summit for the First Time. Botswana has marked a historic milestone by hosting the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) Summit for the very first time, as part of the country’s celebration of 60 Years of Diamond Leadership.
The summit, held in Gaborone, brought together a distinguished delegation of global industry leaders and decision-makers from across the diamond value chain. The visit underscores Botswana’s enduring legacy of responsible sourcing, strong governance, and value creation in the global diamond industry.
Delegates were welcomed with a presentation by ODC Chief Operations Officer Sethunya Molosiwa, followed by guided tours of the Control and Sorting Rooms, where the core of ODC’s operations was showcased. The tours offered a glimpse into Botswana’s diamond management processes and highlighted the country’s role in maintaining integrity and transparency in the sector.
The WFDB Summit forms part of Botswana’s broader efforts to reinforce its position as a global leader in natural diamonds. By hosting the event, Botswana has created a platform for dialogue on the future of natural diamonds, trade, and investment, while also celebrating six decades of leadership in the industry.
ODC expressed pride in showcasing its contribution to Botswana’s diamond story and reaffirmed its commitment to shaping conversations around responsible mining, sustainable trade, and innovation in the diamond value chain.
The summit not only highlights Botswana’s achievements but also signals its readiness to engage with global partners in advancing the future of the diamond industry.
