Candy Godie to Speak at Future of Mining Summit 2026. The Future of Mining Summit 2026 will feature Onalenna Candy Godie, General Manager of Sandfire Motheo Operations, as one of its distinguished speakers. The summit takes place on 29–30 June 2026 at Boipuso Hall, Gaborone, under the theme “Mining for Transformation: Economic Diversification, Shared Prosperity.”

Godie brings nearly two decades of mining experience across Botswana, South Africa, and Mozambique. Beginning her career in 2008 as a Learner Official at Jwaneng Mine, she advanced to Mining Manager, gaining expertise in drilling, blasting, loading, hauling, pit maintenance, and mine planning. Her career includes senior leadership roles at Voorspoed and Venetia Mines in South Africa, as well as Kenmare Moma Mine in Mozambique, where she rose to Operations Manager/Alternate General Manager.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand and completed a General Management Programme at GIBS, University of Pretoria. Her leadership style emphasizes safety, accountability, operational discipline, and sustainable performance, while also fostering people-centered workplace culture.

At the summit, Godie will participate in a Leadership Fireside Chat titled “Navigating Operational Challenges in a Rapidly Evolving Mining Industry.” The session will explore issues such as maintaining productivity in dynamic market conditions, managing workforce transformation, meeting sustainability expectations, adopting technological innovation, and addressing evolving stakeholder demands.

Beyond her professional achievements, Godie is passionate about community engagement, mentoring women and girls, and supporting underprivileged communities. Guided by her motto, “Integrity, service, and excellence in all I do,” she continues to inspire both within and outside the mining sector.
