Lucara Botswana Commits P1 Million to Support National Athletics Team. Lucara Botswana has pledged a further P1 million in financial support to Botswana’s national athletics team, with funds allocated toward participation incentives and performance-based rewards.
The contribution will see each athlete selected for the national team receive P10,000 as a participation incentive. Team officials are also included in the support structure, with each set to receive P5,000.
In addition to these base incentives, a structured reward system has been outlined for performance achievements. Athletes who secure a gold medal will receive P30,000, while silver medalists will be awarded P20,000 and bronze medalists P15,000.
Further recognition has been allocated for specific accomplishments. Athletes who break a national record will receive P5,000, while finalists in events will earn P7,500. A higher reward of P40,000 has been set for athletes who achieve a world record.
The funding announcement reflects continued backing for the national athletics team, with a focus on both participation and competitive performance. The structured incentives are designed to recognise different levels of achievement, from team inclusion to record-breaking performances.
Lucara Botswana has previously supported athletics initiatives, and this latest contribution reinforces its involvement in the development and recognition of sporting talent.
The allocation of funds across participation and performance categories highlights a dual approach, providing immediate support for team members while also rewarding competitive success on the track and field.
The announcement outlines a clear framework for how athletes and officials will be compensated, with defined monetary values attached to various outcomes during competition.
This latest pledge adds to ongoing efforts to support Botswana’s athletics programme through financial incentives tied to both representation and achievement.
