Gaming Positioned as Catalyst for Tourism Growth. A panel discussion titled “Gaming as a Catalyst for Tourism Growth” brought together industry voices to explore how gaming can be integrated into Botswana’s evolving tourism model. The session was moderated by Ms Boitshwarelo Lebang-Kgetse, Executive Head of Corporate Affairs and Investor Relations at the Botswana Development Corporation (BDC).

Framing gaming not as an isolated industry but as a strategic lever, Ms Lebang-Kgetse steered the dialogue toward the balance between opportunity and responsibility. She emphasized the importance of strong regulation, clear policy direction, and alignment with national development goals to ensure that gaming contributes meaningfully to Botswana’s tourism ambitions.

The panel underscored that the future of gaming in Botswana will depend not only on its economic contribution but also on how effectively it is regulated and how deeply it integrates with community development. By positioning gaming within the country’s high-value, low-volume tourism model, stakeholders see potential for diversification that enhances visitor experiences while creating new avenues for investment.

The discussion concluded with a central takeaway: gaming can become a driver of tourism growth if it is responsibly managed, strategically aligned, and designed to deliver benefits across society.
