Sowa Town Council Signs Green Energy MoU with CGNAE. The Sowa Town Council has signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with China General Nuclear Power Corporation Africa Energy (CGNAE), marking a significant step in the town’s transition toward green energy.
Under the agreement, CGNAE will finance Sowa’s solar project, supporting efforts to diversify energy sources and strengthen sustainability initiatives. The partnership reflects a growing emphasis on renewable energy solutions as communities seek to reduce reliance on traditional power generation.
CGNAE is a subsidiary of China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGN), China’s largest state-owned nuclear power operator and the world’s leading nuclear construction company. Headquartered in Shenzhen, CGN holds more than 50 percent of China’s domestic nuclear market as of 2024. The corporation operates major nuclear plants such as Daya Bay and has expanded its expertise into wind, solar, and hydro energy, with significant projects across Asia and Europe.
By partnering with CGNAE, Sowa Town Council aims to leverage international expertise and financing to accelerate its solar energy ambitions. The initiative is expected to enhance local energy resilience while contributing to broader sustainability goals.
Officials noted that the MoU represents a strategic collaboration that aligns with global trends in renewable energy adoption. With CGNAE’s track record in large-scale energy projects, the partnership provides Sowa with an opportunity to strengthen its infrastructure and advance its green energy agenda.
The agreement underscores the importance of international cooperation in addressing energy challenges and highlights Sowa’s commitment to pursuing innovative solutions for long-term development.
