BPOPF Approaches P133 Billion Asset Target Ahead of Schedule. The Botswana Public Officers Pension Fund (BPOPF) is closing in on its ambitious P133 billion asset target, achieving strong growth despite a challenging economic climate.

As of December 2025, the fund’s assets under management stood at P128.4 billion, placing it firmly on track to meet its March 2027 target ahead of schedule. This milestone was announced by BPOPF acting chief executive officer, Ms Kwenatle Otukile, during a press conference held on Friday.

Ms Otukile attributed the performance to sustained asset growth, prudent investment management, and increased diversification across portfolios. These include active and deferred members, pensioners, and pre-retirement switch portfolios. She emphasized that the fund’s strategy is designed to balance risk while ensuring consistent returns for members.

Highlighting the broader responsibility of the fund, Ms Otukile noted that BPOPF is not only tasked with growing retirement savings but also with delivering services in a sustainable and competitive manner. This approach, she said, ensures long-term returns for the more than 120,000 members who rely on the fund for their retirement security.

The achievement underscores BPOPF’s resilience in navigating economic pressures while maintaining a focus on growth and sustainability. By diversifying investments and strengthening portfolio management, the fund continues to demonstrate its ability to safeguard member interests and contribute to financial stability.

With assets nearing the P133 billion mark, BPOPF’s progress reflects both effective governance and a commitment to building value for its members. The fund’s leadership reaffirmed its dedication to transparency and accountability, promising to maintain momentum as it advances toward its target.
