Lucara Botswana Strengthens Miss Botswana Pageant with Major Sponsorship. With only 12 contestants remaining in the Miss Botswana 2026 competition, the journey toward the crown has entered its final stage, boosted by significant corporate support from Lucara Botswana.
The company has pledged P500,000 to the pageant and an additional P600,000 to Change Africa, reinforcing its commitment to empowering women and supporting community-driven initiatives. The announcement was made during a handover ceremony in Gaborone, where Lucara Botswana Managing Director, Naseem Lahri, emphasized the importance of investing in young Batswana women.
Lahri explained that the sponsorship aims to uplift contestants who represent Botswana’s beauty and culture on international platforms. She highlighted that the pageant is not only a celebration of talent and elegance but also a vehicle for showcasing Botswana’s identity globally.
In addition to supporting the pageant, Lucara Botswana’s funding to Change Africa, a social enterprise focused on innovative entrepreneurship and thought leadership, will advance a pilot programme in Maun. This initiative is designed to empower women by teaching them skills in crop cultivation, animal rearing, and sustainable community development. The programme also integrates entrepreneurial training, equipping participants with tools to build self-sufficiency and contribute to local economic growth.
The dual sponsorship reflects Lucara Botswana’s broader vision of combining cultural promotion with social empowerment. By supporting both the Miss Botswana pageant and grassroots initiatives, the company underscores the role of women as key drivers of cultural representation and community resilience.
As the grand finale approaches on Saturday, the contestants continue to prepare for the spotlight, with Lucara Botswana’s support ensuring that the event remains a platform for empowerment, pride, and national representation.
