Entrepreneurs Encouraged to Apply for Stanford Seed Transformation Program. Local entrepreneurs are being urged to apply for the Stanford Seed Transformation Program, a globally recognised business growth initiative supported by De Beers Group. Applications are now open for the programme, which is designed to equip high-potential business leaders across Africa with the tools needed to scale their companies and contribute to economic development.

Developed by the Stanford Graduate School of Business, the programme provides participants with world-class training, mentorship, and access to global networks. It focuses on strengthening enterprises by enhancing resilience, fostering innovation, and creating opportunities for job growth.

Speaking at an information session held in partnership with Absa Bank Botswana, Otsile Mabeo, Vice President of Social Impact and Sustainability at De Beers Group, highlighted the importance of supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). She noted that the programme enables entrepreneurs to grow sustainably while contributing meaningfully to job creation.

Mabeo explained that the initiative forms part of De Beers’ Building Forever sustainability framework, which is built around livelihoods, nature, and climate. Entrepreneurship development has been identified as a critical driver of sustainable livelihoods and long-term economic resilience. She added that while diamonds have played a transformative role in Botswana’s development, the industry recognises the need for economic diversification beyond mining.

Through partnerships with institutions such as Stanford Seed and Absa, De Beers aims to complement government efforts to broaden Botswana’s economic base. The Seed Transformation Program is seen as a key avenue for empowering entrepreneurs with practical business tools, strategic thinking skills, and access to valuable networks.

Entrepreneurs across Botswana are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to learn from leading global experts and experienced business leaders who have already benefited from the initiative.
