DTCB and ODC Strengthen Collaboration Through Strategic Site Visit. A high-level delegation from the Diamond Trading Company Botswana (DTCB) visited the Okavango Diamond Company (ODC) on 16 March 2026, marking a significant step in deepening cooperation across Botswana’s diamond value chain.

The DTCB team, led by Managing Director Serty Leburu, toured ODC’s facilities in Gaborone. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to responsible sourcing, traceability, and value‑addition initiatives designed to ensure Botswana continues to derive substantial benefits from its natural diamond resources.

Speaking during the visit, Ms. Makepe highlighted the importance of collaboration between the two entities. “The visit underlines the shared mandate between ODC and DTCB to reinforce Botswana’s position in the global diamond pipeline while ensuring that our stakeholder enjoys maximum value,” she said.

ODC’s leadership showcased its three‑tiered sales model, which includes Spot Auction, Citizen Tenders, and Contract Sales. This structure was presented as a way to broaden participation in the diamond industry, particularly among Botswana-based buyers. ODC emphasized that the model also creates opportunities for local jewelry manufacturers to access raw materials, supporting downstream beneficiation and contributing to national economic goals.

Both DTCB and ODC reiterated their commitment to strengthening collaboration as sister companies with a shared government shareholder. The visit underscored their unified mandate to advance Botswana’s diamond sector, ensuring that the industry remains competitive internationally while continuing to deliver value locally.

The strategic engagement reflects Botswana’s broader vision of aligning its diamond industry with sustainable practices and inclusive growth, reinforcing the country’s reputation as a leader in responsible diamond production.
