Botswana’s Road Transport Department Launches eService Portal. The Department of Road Transport and Safety (DRTS) has officially launched a new eService Portal, designed to bring convenience and efficiency to citizens by moving 12 critical services online.

Speaking at the launch, Tiro Kganela, Chief Public Relations Officer in the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, emphasized the transformative nature of the platform. “We’re bringing services to your doorstep. No more long queues. Access services from the comfort of your home,” he said.

Accessible at rts.gov.bw, the portal allows users to renew vehicle and driving licences, apply for learner’s licences, make online payments, and print documents at their convenience. The initiative is expected to significantly reduce congestion at physical service centres while improving turnaround times for essential transport-related processes.

The move reflects Botswana’s broader commitment to digital transformation and public service modernization. By digitizing services, DRTS aims to enhance transparency, reduce administrative burdens, and provide citizens with a more dignified and user-friendly experience.

Officials noted that the portal is part of a phased rollout, with plans to expand its functionality over time. Future updates are expected to integrate additional services and strengthen interoperability with other government systems, further streamlining service delivery.
