Francistown Agripreneur Turns Passion Into October Farms Success. From computer labs to open fields, Kereeditse Moradu has charted a bold path as an agripreneur, horticulture consultant, mentor, and visionary founder of October Farms. Born and raised in Francistown, she holds a Bachelor of Science in Computing with Finance from the University of Botswana, but chose to pursue her passion for agriculture instead of a corporate career.
Her journey began modestly with just four hectares of rain-fed maize, producing green mealies and securing partnerships with major retail stores. That small start became her breakthrough, laying the foundation for October Farms. Today, Moradu cultivates cabbages, tomatoes, green peppers, lettuce, maize, and watermelons, while expanding operations to Gulubane, where she also produces Tswana chickens. October Farms now operates across Shashemooke, Gulubane, and Tonota, reflecting her vision of sustainable growth and diversification.
Moradu’s impact has earned her recognition beyond Botswana. She was a delegate at the Forbes Under 30 Summit and named Runner-up for Best Woman in Agriculture in 2024. Her story resonates with young professionals and entrepreneurs who are considering unconventional paths, proving that resilience, vision, and courage can transform small beginnings into thriving enterprises.
Through October Farms, she continues to mentor and inspire others, demonstrating that agriculture is not only a viable business but also a platform for innovation and empowerment. Her journey embodies the essence of agripreneurship — trading office desks for open fields, and turning challenges into opportunities.
Moradu’s success story highlights the growing role of young entrepreneurs in shaping Botswana’s agricultural future, reinforcing the importance of passion-driven ventures in building sustainable communities.
