Boatle–Ramotswa Road Rehabilitation Project Set to Begin Next Month. The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure has confirmed that the Boatle–Ramotswa road rehabilitation project will commence next month, with works scheduled to run for a period of 10 months. The project, valued at over P37 million, is part of government’s broader initiative to improve road safety and support economic growth through infrastructure renewal.
Speaking at a recent consultative kgotla meeting in Ramotswa, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Mr. Noah Salakae, outlined the scope of the project. The works will include asphalt overlay, shoulder repairs, installation of new bus stops, and updated road signage. These upgrades are expected to enhance travel safety and improve the overall efficiency of the route, which serves as a vital link for communities and businesses in the area.
Minister Salakae emphasized that the government’s current focus is on maintaining and rehabilitating existing road networks rather than constructing new ones. “Maintenance of these roads follows certain procedures as we have primary roads interlinking big villages and towns such as the A1 and A2. We also have secondary, tertiary, and access roads. Due to limited funds and the scope of works involved, we took a decision not to engage in construction of any new road infrastructure but maintain existing roads,” he explained.
The Boatle–Ramotswa project reflects government’s commitment to addressing infrastructure challenges systematically, ensuring that resources are directed toward projects with immediate impact on communities. By prioritizing rehabilitation, the Ministry aims to extend the lifespan of existing roads while improving safety and accessibility for road users.
Once completed, the upgraded road is expected to ease travel, support local economic activity, and contribute to broader national development goals.
