Cavista Hackathon Builds Pathway for Investable Tech Solutions in Botswana. Cavista Technologies Botswana will host its inaugural two-day hackathon on 21 and 22 February 2026 at the Botswana Accountancy College, marking a significant step in fostering innovation and entrepreneurship within the country’s technology sector.
Although presented as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility programme, the hackathon is designed to serve a dual purpose: creating a structured pipeline for investable technology solutions while identifying high-potential engineering talent. The event is expected to attract young innovators eager to showcase ideas that can be transformed into scalable businesses.
General Manager Katlego Arnone emphasized the importance of the initiative, noting that it provides a platform for connecting promising ideas with capital. “It is a very good opportunity, not only for Cavista to find the best and the brightest talent to come and join our team, but also to have those with capital invest in the young engineers’ ideas,” she said.
The hackathon will feature participants working intensively on solutions that address real-world challenges, with mentorship and guidance provided throughout the process. By linking innovation with investment, Cavista aims to strengthen Botswana’s technology ecosystem and encourage sustainable growth in the sector.
Beyond talent discovery, the event underscores the role of private sector initiatives in supporting national development goals. By creating opportunities for young engineers and entrepreneurs, Cavista is contributing to a broader vision of building a knowledge-based economy where technology plays a central role in driving progress.
The hackathon is expected to generate solutions that not only demonstrate technical creativity but also hold potential for commercialization, ensuring that innovation translates into tangible impact for communities and industries across Botswana.
